Yulia Svezhakova graduated from Vladimir Levertov's acting class at the Russian Academy of Theatre Arts (GITIS) in 1995 and immediately was invited to join the company of the Moscow New Generation Theatre (Young Spectator Theatre).
There she performed numerous roles, including: Katerina in Genrietta Yanovskaya's production of Alexander Ostrovsky's “The Storm,” Greta in Yanovskaya's production of Agatha Christie's “A Witness for the Prosecution,” Tanya Pesotskaya in Kama Ginkas's production of Anton Chekhov's “The Black Monk,” Anna Sergeevna in Ginkas's production of Chekhov's “The Lady with the Lapdog,” and Sylvetta in Andrei Droznin, Jr. 's, production of Edmond Rostand's “The Romantics.” Svezhakova was honored with the Crystal Turandot award (1997) for her professional debut in “The Storm,” and for the same role was named Best Dramatic Actress (1998) by the Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper. Her performance as Anna Sergeevna brought her a Chaika (Seagull) award in 2001. That same year she was nominated for an Idol award.
Svezhakova has performed in numerous films, including: Valery Ogorodnikov's “The Barracks,” Konstantin Antropov's “My Sweet Dream,” Sergei Bobrov's “Men Don't Cry,” Igor Minaev's “Far from Sunset Boulevard,” Dmitry Kostantinov's “Styx,” and Yefim Gribov's “The Funeral Party.” She has performed in numerous television films and series, including Vladimir Shchegolkov's “Moscow — Central District,” Gury Atnev's “The Sorceror,” Andrei Eshpai's “Children of the Arbat” and Yelena Nikolaeva's “Work Duties.”
